There's a new event planned this fall that's sure to please fans of the Lehigh Valley's wines and ciders.
The Lehigh Valley Cider and Wine Festival, which will feature tastings of local hard cider and wine, will take place noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 24 at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown.
The Lehigh Valley Wine Trail event will feature 15 to 20 cideries, including local favorites Hardball Cider and Frecon's Cidery, each offering multiple cider selections, as well as wine tastings and sales by the glass, bottle and case from members of the Wine Trail.
Participating wineries will include: Amore Vineyards & Winery, East Allen Township; Blue Mountain Vineyards, New Tripoli; Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery, Breinigsville; Franklin Hill Vineyards, Bangor; Galen Glen Vineyard & Winery, Andreas, Schuylkill County; Pinnacle Ridge, Kutztown; Tolino Vineyards, Bangor; and Vynecrest Winery, Breinigsville.
You'll get a collector's stemless glass for your cider and wine tastings, and can purchase food and crafts from food trucks, vendors and artisans. The festival — which will take place during Pennsylvania Wine Month — will also include live entertainment, panel discussions describing the process of making both cider and wine, and other fun activities such as an apple launch competition.
Tickets: $35 per person for a four-hour tasting starting at 1 p.m. VIP tickets are $45 per person and include a noon entrance time and a five-hour tasting. Until Wednesday, Aug. 19, you can save $5 on all tasting tickets with an early bird ticket offer. For a designated driver, tickets (which include soda) will be $5.
